9 Things You Didn’t Know About Elijah Hendrix Wahlberg
Let’s get to the details!
1. He, Like His Older Brother, Is in Band
Elijah Wahlberg started the Chicago-based electro-rock group Pink Laces, and he’s open about his art. He did talk about the creation of the band on his stepmom’s (yes, that would be “The Masked Singer” judge Jenny McCarthy) podcast.
Meanwhile, the older Wahlberg brother, Xavier Alexander, is part of Upon Stone, a death metal band. The family doesn’t talk about his art all that much. But it looks like they’re doing this out of respect for Xavier’s wishes—at least, that’s what Donnie Wahlberg says.
2. His Mom Is Musical, Too
Okay, Xavier and Elijah Wahlberg are musical people. And, obviously, their father has lots of talent.
But did you know that their mom is also musical? In fact, when Elijah Wahlberg was asked how his love for music started, he talked about Kim Fay, not Donnie.
Little Elijah grew up with his mom (she and Wahlberg got divorced in 2008). Kim Fay was a sound engineer and was always playing the guitar or piano.
Long story short? Between his mom playing music at home and his dad taking him on tours, I think it’s easy to see where Elijah’s love for music comes from.
3. Dominic Howard Was a Major Inspiration for Elijah Wahlberg
Elijah Hendrix Wahlberg got serious about music in middle school when he picked up the drums. That’s also when he started seeing himself playing arenas for rock bands in the future.
Basically, he wanted to become like Dominic Howard from Muse.

Does he still want that? Well, he says his relationship with music has evolved over the years. It started with drums. Playing then directed him to recording. Recording got him into producing.
Most recently, he’s been happily wearing the writer/producer hat.
4. He’s a “Big Anime Guy”
Muse, unorthodox guitar tones, and freaky sound effects were all inspirations for young Elijah Wahlberg. But none of them were his “biggest” inspiration in life.
The things that inspire him the most aren’t even musical.

He’s really into animation and draws a creative spark from it. I’m not just talking about anime, either. Wahlberg also loves American animated shows. Think Adventure Time.
5. He’s a Cat Lover
Do you know how Elijah Wahlberg introduced himself when he did a magazine interview? “Fulltime artist and cat dad.”
Fans dig his love for cats—so much so that he posts his cat (and random street cats he meets) on the official Pink Laces account!

6. He’s Into Pokemon
Elijah Wahlberg doesn’t think a studio is complete without some Mons here and there.
He’s got Sableye, Vileplume, and Bulbasaur plushies to keep him company as he works on tunes for Pink Laces. Oh, and there’s a tiny figurine gang of Gengar, Blastoise, Dragonite, and Lucario on the side.

7. Natural Light Gets His Creative Juices Going
Besides Pokemon plushies and figurines, the Pink Laces artist likes a lot of natural light in his studio. He actually prefers working during the afternoon.
Luckily, Elijah Hendrix Wahlberg’s friend and music partner Kevin has a place near the beach. That’s where he worked on the second LP, but he’d open the doors and windows for maximum sunlight. The bird chirping and natural white noise were just a nice bonus.
And let’s be honest. If I could work by the beach and hear the birds sing every day, odds are I’d have a more productive day!
That’s not to say I could make the sort of art he does, though. Sadly, there are exactly zero musical bones in my body.
8. He Wants to Perform Live
Where does Elijah Wahlberg see Pink Laces going next? Well, he’d like to take some of the band’s discography to a live setting.
That makes a lot of sense when you remember how he wanted to play rock music in arenas since he was a kid!
9. His Goal for the Future Is to Form a Musical Collective
So, Wahlberg’s short-term goal is to perform in front of a live audience.
Long-term, however, he’d like to create a musical collective. You know, the sort of thing that nurtures the collaborative spirit among similar-minded artists.
Final Thoughts
Elijah Hendrix Wahlberg might not be as famous as his dad… yet. But it looks like he’s enjoying this part of his life to the fullest, and that’s enough in my books!
What do you think the future holds for this Wahlberg artist?
