Flavio Cobolli: Early Life
Born in Florence but raised in Rome, Flavio had the perfect setting to develop his game.

His father, and also coach, Stefano Cobolli, was actually a former pro himself. The latter reached No. 236 in the ATP Rankings. Unlike many tennis prodigies who bounce around different coaches, Flavio’s stuck with his dad as his coach – and it’s worked so far!
Flavio grew up with his brother, Guglielmo, who’s much younger than him. Flavio was also close to pursuing a pro football profession before choosing to follow in his father’s footsteps.
He and his best friend Edoardo Bove played both sports simultaneously when growing up. In an interview with APTtour.com, Cobolli mentioned: “…I started playing [football and Bove] was playing tennis, and then we changed. He was playing football more than me, and I played tennis more than him.”

Off the court, Flavio’s pretty much your typical young Italian guy who happens to be exceptional at tennis. When he’s not crushing serves or perfecting his backhand, you’ll find him hitting the hiking trails or cycling around.
If you’re into tennis gear, you might be interested to know that Flavio recently switched to a Radical after starting with a Speed racquet. Whether he plates with the TGT 307 or the newer TGT 351 is undisclosed but he’s making it work for him either way.

March 30, 2021 – that’s when Flavio decided to make his relationship with Matilde Galli Instagram official.
He’s made a tradition of celebrating Matilde’s birthday on November 4th. There’s this super sweet video of them sharing a kiss in the stands with Flavio captioning it: “The best is yet to come, happy birthday to my life!”

Currently sitting at World No. 32, he’s already hit a career-high ranking of No. 30 (September 2024), making him Italy’s No. 3 player. Pretty impressive for someone still in their early twenties, right?
His breakthrough moment was in 2020 when he clinched the French Open boys’ doubles title alongside Dominic Stricker. He went on to make his ATP debut in 2021 and reach his first ATP final in 2024.
