33 journalists trained on gender and the role of the media in times of conflict


Kinshasa, April 21nd, 2021 (CPA).- The Congolese union of women in the media (UCOFEM), Ituri section trained on Monday with the support of MONUSCO 33 journalists including 15 women on gender and the role of the media in times of conflict, CPA learned on Wednesday from the national representation of this structure.

According to the source, the objectives of this training were to deconstruct the negative image of women in the media, to eliminate discrimination, injustice and stereotypes against women, as well as to encourage the contribution male and female journalists in the fight for gender equality in the media.

In addition, indicates the source, the provincial director of UCOFEM / Ituri, Ms. Yvette Musafiri urged during this workshop the media professionals to do their job well, to respect ethics and journalistic deontology during this period when Ituri province faces growing insecurity, social media influences as well as protests against MONUSCO’s role in some areas.
