Women of Kisangani sensitized on the innovations of the new family code

Kisangani, May 22nd, 2021 (CPA).- The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights closed on Wednesday in the “Young Gradi” room in the municipality of Makiso the popularization campaign on the innovations of the new family code in the intention of women. They came from Makiso, Kisangani, Mangobo, Tshopo, Lubunga and Lubuyabera to participate for four days in these meetings. Speaking of innovations, Maître Trésor Asimbo, lawyer at the Kisangani bar, one of the participants welcomed the suspension in the new women’s code of marital authorization for married couples, the abolition of marriage for minors and also equal treatment of husband and wife with regard to the offense of adultery. For Sylvain Masudi, human rights officer at the joint United Nations office, this campaign aims to equip women leaders of women’s movements and associations so that they are able to defend their rights.
