Kinshasa, May 31st, 2021 (CPA).- A technical team from the Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation, on behalf of the First Lady of the Republic, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, handed over on Sunday May 30, 2021, a large batch of food and non-food to the Volcanological Observatory of Goma (OVG) which ensures the permanent monitoring of the seismic activities of the volcanoes in the region, indicates a press release from its Foundation (FDNT) received the same day at the CPA.

Within this structure, more than 350 people are at work 24 hours a day to monitor activities in the craters of volcanoes and in the surroundings in order to advise the government on the actions to be taken in favor of the populations surrounding the sites. Volcanic.

« Maman Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi sent us here to Goma for several days to help the victims of the Nyiragongo eruption », declared the person in charge of the social within the foundation of the First Lady, Mrs. Sarah Biselele specifying: « Today » hui, we came to you because it is thanks to your work of monitoring and studying the activities of these volcanoes that the authorities are taking measures to protect us. The Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi foundation also plans other actions in support of the efforts of the provincial and national governments, indicates the same source, stressing that the delegation will go in particular to Sake, Rutshuru and Kibumba where thousands of inhabitants of Goma have found refuge responding to the slogan of the military governor of North Kivu in prevention of a probable new natural disaster.

The Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation (FDNT) dispatched a technical team to Goma, North Kivu, to assess the first emergencies and the needs of the displaced in order to define an action plan for the Foundation that would support the work of the authorities. Local authorities and NGOs which also participate in the emergency aid provided to this idle population.

According to the same statement, the First Lady is very touched by the precarious situation of the displaced people from Goma who left the city to protect themselves from the sudden eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano on May 22nd.

After presenting its civilities to the provincial governor and participating in a meeting with the crisis management commission set up by the provincial authorities, the FDNT team went to the town of Saké, where a large number of of gomatrachians found refuge.
