Mbuji-Mayi, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).- The teaching and academic staff of the Higher Institute of Medical Techniques (ISTM) of Mbuji-Mayi in Kasai-Oriental have decided to harden the strike movement started since June 12 after only 48 hours of resuming activities within this institution.
According to some teachers who delivered this news to the CPA on Wednesday, this hardening of the strike was decided at the end of a meeting held at the beginning of this week between the management staff and the scientific, academic and administrative body during which no understood was not found between the stakeholders.
Teachers call this deadlock a lack of consideration on the part of the management committee for not agreeing to the increase in the local mid-term supervision bonus. Faced with this situation, those concerned call on the provincial authority to get involved with a view to a suitable solution so as not to penalize the students of this institution of higher and university education (ESU).
This movement led the provincial government to suspend ISTM / Mbujimayi activities following clashes between police officers who came to maintain public order and students, thus causing the death of a student killed by stray bullet and four seriously injured police officers. ACP/
