Lubumbashi, June 25th, 2021 (CPA).- The Provincial Assembly of Haut-Katanga, has just granted a three-month period to the town hall of Lubumbashi to demolish the so-called rail market located in the town of Kampemba, in order to allow the Société Nationale de Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC) to relaunch its program to introduce urban traffic.

This decision was taken Monday during the plenary session chaired by the president of this deliberative body, Antoine Gabriel Kyungu wa Kumwanza, during which the mayor of Lubumbashi, Ghislain Robert Lubaba Buluma was invited to enlighten the provincial elected officials on several issues. such as the theft of the railway.

The Director General of the SNCC, Fabien Mutomb, congratulated the president of this ering institution of Haut-Katanga as well as the provincial deputies for having ensured the protection of the heritage of his company.

He indicated that this company is determined to recover its looted heritage not only in Lubumbashi, but also in Kasumbalesa and Likas in the same province.

Soon the purchase of land to house a market

The mayor of Kampemba, Erick Twite wa Lwamba, during this plenary, informed the office of the Provincial Assembly that the municipality plans to buy land far from the rights-of-way of the Société Nationale de Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC) to house this market.

He acknowledged that the rail market has been around for years and that a tax estimated at 900,000 FC is collected per week.

This tax, he said, allows the municipality to evacuate the refuse; stressing that the municipality is working to ensure that the SNCC is restored to its rights.
