Difficult patient care at the Walikale general referral hospital

Goma, July 17th, 2021 (CPA).– The general reference hospital of Walikale has been experiencing enormous difficulties in taking care of patients for more than six months following the absence of several non-functional services, learned Tuesday the PCA of patients coming from this medical training.

According to various corroborating sources, many patients die in this medical structure because of this deficiency.

The medical director of this hospital said that the majority of people who die in its structure are children under the age of 5 and that the hospital is not so stocked with drugs.

The medical staff is forced to travel long distances to Bukavu exposing themselves to many security risks including looting and others for certain examinations.

This situation would justify the high cost of medicines in this hospital, something which discourages the inhabitants of Walikale. ACP/
