The Grand Cement plant of Katanga seeks support from the central government


Kinshasa, July 17th, 2021 (CPA).– The Deputy General Director, of the Grand Cement plant of Katanga (GCK) Mr. Ilunga Chibind, informed the Minister in charge of Industry, Julien Paluku Kahongya, of the development of the activities of this Likasi lime production unit, in Haut-Katanga, since its inauguration in October 2020, indicates a statement from the said ministry received Friday at the CPA.

Mr. Ilunga, who was leading a delegation to the Minister in charge of Industry, also requested the support of the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in achieving the goals that the company has set for itself.

“We came to see the Minister in charge of Industry for two reasons. The first reason is to present the civilities and the second is to inform him of the start of the cement kiln before requesting the support of the Congolese government ”, said the head of the delegation which specifies the Minister of Industry had was invited towards the end of October 2020 for the launch of the first production unit.

He argued that at that time their cement factory was under construction and it was important for them to come and meet him. Referring to the development of activities, Mr. Ilunga Chibind said that the Grande Cementerie du Katanga (GCK) has a production capacity of 1,200,000 (one million two hundred thousand) tons per year. This, he added, can easily water the former Katanga province with cement. ACP/
