Relations between Moscow and the DRC are in good shape


Kinshasa, September 28th, 2021 (CPA),-  The Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the DRC, Alexel Sentebov, said Tuesday after talks with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Christophe Lutundula Apala, that relations between his country and the DRC are in good shape.

The Russian diplomat, who says he has counted on issues relating to the strengthening of cooperation between Kinshasa and Moscow,

clarified that the DRC and the Russian Federation have a fiftieth relationship marked by Russian support in various fields and which does not intend to stop there.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samy Adubango Awotho, had discussed cooperation between the DRC and the Russian Federation, on May 20, with the itinerant ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this Federation on an official mission in the DRC , Oleg Ozerov.

The two personalities discussed the preparation of the annual consultations between the two ministries, the second Russia-Africa summit, scheduled for 2022, and the Russia-Africa partnership forum. « Bilateral cooperation between the DRC and Russia and between Africa and Russia is part of a long-term approach, and it is based on the fight against neocolonialism, » the roving ambassador said at the outcome of the interview.

On August 31 of this year, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the DRC handed over a consignment of medical equipment from his country to the DRC’s Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention, as part of the fight against diseases infectious diseases, including refrigeration and freezer units, PCR cabinets, laminar biosafety cabinets, UV irradiators, stabilizers, sterilizers and test tubes.

This aid program is being executed within the framework of an agreement signed on the sidelines of the first Russia – Africa summit (Sochi, 2019), in the field of the fight against particularly dangerous infectious diseases.

Russian specialists made several working visits to Kinshasa and organized online consultations, to support Congo’s efforts in its fight against the health and epidemiological crisis.
