The National Youth Council supports the inclusion of young people in the decision-making process


Kinshasa, October 19th, 2021 (CPA).– The president of the National Youth Council (CNJ), William Mukambila, affirmed, on Monday, the determination of his structure to lead advocacy for the inclusion of young people in the decision-making process decision, during a press briefing, held in the Leo studio room of Boboto college, in Gombe municipality, on the occasion of the start of national consultations with Congolese youth.

President William Mukambila said that these consultations are an initiative of CNJ, through the youth of DRC, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi, in order to promote national cohesion, the unity and peace.

During these meetings, he said, it will be a question of pinpointing all the thorny issues that concern youth, with a view to finding suitable solutions and creating a framework for collaboration between this social category and the authorities of the country, for the development of youth both nationally and internationally.

These consultations will also be an opportunity for various Congolese youth platforms to consolidate their links, in order to make a common voice heard on the quota of their participation in decision-making bodies, he said.

Specifications for different categories of young people expected

In addition, he stressed that the conference program provides for exchanges with all socio-professional categories of young Congolese, specifying that each of them will have to bring its specifications, submit to CNJ, through commissions set up in part of this event.

These specifications will be used to produce a national CNJ program, which reflects the needs of the country in general, and those of young people, including those with family breakdown, commonly known as « Chegues ».

In addition, President William Mukambila specified that the consultations will last 80 days and will experience several highlights, including the popular expression platform, the tour in the provinces and others. Finally, CNJ’s specifications will be handed over to the President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo for useful purposes.
