Towards the creation of a National Fund for victims of sexual violence in DRC


Kinshasa, October 19th, 2021 (CPA).– The Office of the First Lady of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, announced the holding in Kinshasa from October 20th to 21st, of a round table on the establishment of a national fund in favor of victims of sexual violence in the country, indicates a press release from this office which reached CPA on Monday.

According to the source, the main objective of this round table will be to bring the stakeholders to a dialogue on the prerequisites for the establishment of a reparation fund for victims but also to reflect on the formulation of a national policy of « Effective repair ».

It will bring together civil society organizations that fight against sexual violence based on gender (SGBV), specialists in the care of victims, international organizations working in the fight against sexual violence, agencies of the United Nations system. -United, members of diplomatic representations stationed in Kinshasa, parliamentarians and members of the government.

This round table, concludes the press release, will be an ideal framework which will allow all the active forces involved to consolidate their actions and work together, because « alone we go faster and together we go further ».
