FOGEKA satisfied with seed conservation in the Kisantu Botanical Garden in Kongo Central


Kinshasa, October 26th, 2021 (CPA). – The president of the NGO « Force du Génie Kongolais pour futur » (FOGEKA), Jean Pierre Kande Mukendi, said he was satisfied on Tuesday during an interview with the CPA, conditions for the conservation of seeds and nurseries at the Botanical Garden of Kisantu, in the province of Kongo Central, at the end of a visit carried out by the members of this environmentalist structure, from October 22nd to 25th. Confiding in the CPA, he indicated that this visit was carried out, as part of the support of the 1 billion trees project by 2023, initiated by the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo , adding that it is in this context that he announced the project to evacuate, soon, a good number of seedlings to the sites selected by FOGEKA, in order to organize the reforestation of said sites, in order to protect the environment and support, to some extent, the vision of the Head of State. As part of this support, FOGEKA has already planted 2023 trees in the Kongo Central province, in the city of Kinshasa, as well as in the territories of Goma and Beni, in the province of North Kivu. Jean Pierre Kande Mukendi, recalled some objectives set by his structure concerning reforestation, in particular that of planting 10,000 trees by 2023. In addition, this three (3) day visit to the Kisantu Botanical Garden was taken advantage of by the members of FOGEKA to better equip themselves in the concepts of growth, production of seedlings, as well as their maintenance on the part of the ecologists committed to this site.
