Israeli President Isaac Herzog hails the leadership of Head of State Felix Tshisekedi


Kinshasa, October 28th, 2021 (CPA) – Israeli President Isaac Herzog praised the leadership of President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo who embodies a bright future for Africa in general and DRC in particular, in his speech after a face-to-face behind closed doors at the presidential palace Israeli.

President Isaac Herzog who underlined the particularity of relations between Jerusalem and Kinshasa, said his admiration for DRC, which his father Herzog, 6th President of the Republic in the history of his country, and his mother had visited in 1964, then President of Israel.

He also underlined his hope that President Felix Tshisekedi will fulfill his promise to open a diplomatic representation of the Hebrew state in Kinshasa. In addition, he is counting on the current Chairman of AU in order to advance Israel’s observer dossier within the African Union.

Speaking in turn, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo emphasized the special character of the Holy Land, stressing that his presence on this land is a blessing for the Congolese people.

« This visit is also part of the strengthening of the partnership between our two countries in various fields, insofar as Israel has achieved performances which constitute a model », insisted Felix Tshisekedi.

The Head of State also alluded to the areas that will count to initiate reconciliations.

These are, he said, infrastructure, security, the environment, agriculture and digital.

Regarding relations with Israel, the President of the Republic said that the world is changing.

“Today, Israel is no longer considered an enemy by its neighbors and as proof some border countries are reestablishing diplomatic relations with Jerusalem. How much more, for good reason, Kinshasa would not make any”, he underlined.

During his speech, the Head of State Felix Tshisekedi revealed the emotion and wonder he had in Caphernaum when he discovered the map of DRC engraved on the ground.

« It is proof that the Congolese people feel close to the Israeli people », he stressed.

Previously, the Head of State was entitled to military honors. Accompanied by his wife, First Lady Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, the Congolese number one had hugs with the presidential couple of the Hebrew State as they got off their limousine, in the garden of the large building housing Isaac Herzog’s office.

After the usual presentation of the personalities, 6 from two sides, the two couples entered the show for the first bilateral exchanges.

Isaac Herzog has been President of the State of Israel since July 7th, 2021. Grandson of Grand Rabbi Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog and son of politician Chaim Herzog, President of the State of Israel for 10 years. He started his political career as a Labor MP in 2003.

President Felix Tshisekedi, accompanied by his wife, visited on Wednesday two essential places of the identity of Hebrew State: Mount Herzl and Yad Vashem museum.

With his wife, Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, they laid their wreath before signing the Herzl Museum’s guest book.

Herzl Museum, inaugurated in honor of the centenary of the death of Theodore Herzl, allows visitors to examine the life and work of the founder of the modern Zionist movement.

The Museum is located on Mount Herzl, west of Jerusalem. It is near the tomb of Theodor Herzl and those of many leading figures of the State of Israel, and also near the national cemetery of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the benefit of the nation, including Ytzak Rabin, Moshe Dayan and others.

It is named after Theodor Herzl, the founder of modern political Zionism. It is the highest point in Jerusalem, at 834 m above sea level.

YAD VASHEM is an Israeli memorial located in Jerusalem, built in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, the genocide of the Jewish people, perpetrated by Nazis during World War II. It is a place of memory and pilgrimage.

Presidential couple touched by images of atrocities at YAD VASHEM memorial

The presidential couple were moved during the visit to Yad Vashem or Shoah memorial. The words and explanations of the guide Shlomo Balzam, objects, images and films retracing the atrocities of which the human being is capable.

The prayer said by Rabbi Asher Heinowitz and the melancholy words of Dani Dayan, Chairman of Yad Vashem illustrated the importance of place which is a vital part in building Jewish identity in the face of this human tragedy.

Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo simply described the Jewish holocaust as: « the darkest moment of the 20th century ». And in his dedication, he concludes: « Never again… »
