The Head of State orders the rehabilitation of the freedom market


Kinshasa, November 17th, 2021 (CPA) – The Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi Tshilombo, on Tuesday ordered the rehabilitation of the Freedom market, following a consolation visit carried out the day after the fire which ravaged this place of trade located in Masina municipality.

The President of the Republic, who was accompanied by the Minister in charge of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, the governor of Kinshasa city, Gentiny Ngobila, and several politico-administrative personalities, asked that measures be taken against the perpetrators of this crime.

The administrator of this market, Guyfoly Kabeya Pindi, reported that this fire started from a fire of unknown origin which started in part of the market, on the night from November 14th to 15th, 2021, causing damage important materials and reducing shelves, merchandise and sheets to ashes.

The public prosecutor at Kinshasa/N’Djili district prosecutor’s office was informed of the situation and promised to launch an investigation that could elucidate the circumstances of the said tragedy, he informed.

Rehabilitation work will be urgently undertaken, according to the wishes of President Felix Tshisekedi, and significant modifications will be required, to prevent incidents of this kind from being repeated, it is announced.

The governor of Kinshasa city, Gentiny Ngobila, the commander of the police force of the capital, Sylvano Kasongo, and the mayor of Masina municipality, accompanied the Head of State in this raid.
