Presidents Felix Tshisekedi and Sassou N’guesso sign bipartite agreement on energy collaboration


Kinshasa, December 7th, 2021 (CPA).– President Felix Tshisekedi and his counterpart from the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou N’guesso, on Monday in Brazzaville, signed the joint declaration as well as that of the bipartite agreement on energy collaboration between Congo and DRC.

The two Heads of State met, previously, face-to-face at the Ambassadors’ Lounge, for more than an hour, before the speech by the Congolese Minister of Hydrocarbons, Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua, who circumscribed the outlines of this project nicknamed « energy friendship loop » and which has as a privileged partner, the Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates, represented for the occasion.

The signing of the joint declaration by the two heads of state was immediately followed by the reading by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala, and that of the bipartite agreement on energy cooperation between the two Congo, by the two respective ministers of hydrocarbons of the Congo, Bruno Jean-Richard Itoua and that of energy DR Congolese, Olivier Mwenze Mukaleng.

These signatures crystallize, it is said, the will of the two governments to implement, at the heart of the African continent, a pooling of energy means and resources, for the greatest benefit of their respective peoples; will that enters, it is recalled, in the framework of sub-regional integration, dear to the President of the Republic and current President of the African Union, Félix Tshisekedi.

The Head of State Felix Tshisekedi was greeted, on his arrival, by the Head of Government of the Republic of Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso, accompanied by his DR Congolese counterpart, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala.

The Dircaba of the Head of State in diplomatic and legal matters, Nicole Ntumba Bwatshia, the ambassador of DRC in Congo, Christophe Muzungu and many other personalities, were also part of it.
