Kinshasa, January 10th, 2022 (CPA)– The Minister of State, Minister of Rural Development, François Rubota Masumbuko, recently proceeded, in Kikwit, in the province of Kwilu, to the launch of the activities of the Support Project for the Integrated Development of rural economy (PROADER), according to a source from the General Secretariat for Rural Development.
Minister of State Rubota revealed, adds the source that the PROADER project is run by the Government of the DRC, benefiting from funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB) .It aims to impact on the lives of more than 500,000 households in across seven (7) provinces of the country for a period of 6 years.
Mr. Rubota recalled that the policy currently advocated by the Head of State, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, is to boost grassroots development in order to facilitate the achievement of rapid economic growth, stressing that the support of the AfDB to this project once again illustrates its commitment to support the development of the agricultural sector of our country, which aspires to become one of the largest agricultural producers in the world.
The Secretary General for Rural Development and President of the PROADER steering committee, Ir Georges KoshiGimeya, reassured that this project favors a global, inclusive and innovative approach to develop a rural and modern economy across the provinces of the DRC., specifying that the impact of PROADER is very important both on employment, in general, and on women, in particular, in rural Congolese areas.
“The launch of PROADER therefore opens a new era for the processing of local products with unquestionable added value in order to further boost agricultural production and trade; so many essential elements for the success of the agricultural sector which can stimulate the increase of incomes and jobs”, said Secretary General Koshi Gimeya, adding that the steering committee is determined to work hand in hand with the Unit.
