Land use planning: USD 7 billion from a consortium of US companies for infrastructure construction


Kinshasa, January 12th, 2022 (CPA) – The Minister of State in charge of Regional Planning, Guy Loando Mboyo, received on Tuesday, in his office, the consortium of American companies IIB-DG, who came to present him with a project of construction of several infrastructures in Kinshasa city.

These include, according to the main consultant of this consortium, Ernesto Nyembo, the construction of an ultra-modern airport, 50,000 social housing units, two 5-star hotels and the putting into service of an urban train connecting Kinsuka at Kinkole, all at a total cost of USD 7 billion.

« This project is well understood by the hierarchy, it remains only to meet certain conditions for it to be effective », he indicated, at the end of the working session.

For his part, Guy Loando Mboyo reassured his hosts of the government’s commitment to materialize this project which will be on the agenda of the next Council of Ministers and which is part of the Head of State’s vision, Félix Tshisekedi, determined to provide DRC with modern infrastructure that meets international standards.

He stressed that he is waiting for the signing of a concession contract and the establishment of a joint commission, to study the feasibility conditions of the said project which will generate many jobs.
