Kinshasa, January 17th, 2022 (CPA) – The President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, will launch this Tuesday in Kinshasa, the first 100 buses out of the 600 planned, of the Trans Académia project, intended for the transport of students from the capital.
The Minister in charge of Transport, Communication and Accessibility, Cherubin Okenge Senga, announced it to the National Student Coordination, during an audience he granted him on Saturday, in his office.
Minister Okenge, on this occasion, called on students to be aware of and take ownership of this project which, he said, is an initiative of the Head of State Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and concerns all institutions. of higher and university education in the country.
“Kinshasa is the first phase. We will continue to provide other universities and higher institutes in DRC with means of mobility for students”, said Minister in charge of Transport Okende.
After this interview, the members of the national committee of students of Congo carried out together with the Minister of Transport, a descent on the site of SIFORCO in the commune of Masina where the buses are stored, in order to feel the reality, before promise to get involved in the proper operation of these buses.
During a meeting of the Council of Ministers which he chaired on May 7th, 2021 by videoconference, the Head of State Felix Tshisekedi gave guidelines to the Minister in charge of Higher and University Education to work with his colleague from Transport, Communication and Accessibility Routes with a view to providing students with buses to facilitate their mobility.
