Kinshasa, March 21st, 2022 (CPA).– The First Vice-President of the Senate, Eddy Mundela Kanku, is taking part in the work of the 144th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings, which are being held from March 20 to March 24th, 2022, at the International Congress Center, in the locality of Nusa Dua, located on the Bukit peninsula, south of the island of Bali, in Indonesia.
The number 2 of the upper house of Parliament who takes part in these meetings under his cap of the 1st vice-president of the geopolitical group of Africa at the IPU, chaired, on Saturday, a meeting in preparation for the 144th session of this organization . According to the communication service of Senator Eddy Mundela, this preparatory meeting focused on a few essential points, namely, the examination of the report of the representatives of the African Group within the Executed Committee of the IPU, the inclusion of the point urgent to be debated on the agenda during the session itself, the position to be filled during the session and the proposal for nomination for the Gremer Passy Prize.
According to the same source, the participants in this meeting welcomed the dynamism of the President of the IPU’s African Geopolitical Group, Eddy Mundela, and wish to take advantage of this Bali 2022 session. It should be noted that the participants at the Bali meeting will mainly discuss the theme of « mobilizing parliaments to act against climate change », by reviewing the actions that parliaments will have to take to mitigate the impact of climate change. and implement the Paris COP 26 agreement.
It will also be a question of the methods of exploiting the post-Covid-19 period to accelerate the green transition and of taking care of the needs of the most vulnerable categories of the population, in particular women and young people, within the framework of action in favor of climate protection.
