The Court of Cassation notifies Vital Kamerhe and others for a public hearing next Monday


Kinshasa, April 5th, 2022 (CPA).– The Court of Cassation notified the national president of the political party the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC) and former chief of staff of the President of the Republic, Vital Kamerhe, and consorts, to a public hearing, next Monday, April 11th, indicates this judicial body in a letter of notification of hearing date signed by the chief clerk, Anne Maris Ndika, a copy of which reached CPA on Monday.

According to the source, this notification from the Court of Cassation also concerns the other defendants Samih Jamal, Jeannot Muhima and others

Still staying in Europe for medical treatment, Vital Kamerhe will try to overturn his 13-year prison sentence, in a case of embezzlement and money laundering in the Congolese government’s 100-day project. In this case, Vital Kamerhe has always claimed his innocence.

As a reminder, Kinshasa/Gombe Court of Appeal had in previous proceedings reduced the sentence of Vital Kamerhe from 20 to 13 years of main penal servitude.
