President Felix Tshisekedi advocates national multisectoral economic integration


Kinshasa, April 19th, 2022 (CPA).– The President of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi, advocates national multisectoral economic integration, through his invitation to the government to get down to the operationalization of the General Directorate of Development Corridors Industrial(DGCDI).

He recommended it, last Friday in Kinshasa, in one of his communications, during the forty-ninth meeting of the Council of Ministers which he chaired, by videoconference, from the City of the African Union.

According to the Minister in charge of Communication and Media, Government Spokesman, who announced it in the minutes of this meeting, DGCDI is an entity whose task is to manage eight Development Corridors at the national and regional.

He cited, among these, Bas-Congo Development Corridor which is a pilot project and which will serve as an instrument of national multi-sectoral economic integration insofar as it concerns three provinces, namely Kongo-Central, Kinshasa and Kwango.

 “It is also regional, in that it involves three countries: the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republics of Angola and Congo”, added the minister.

This operationalization of DGCDI, which the Head of State calls for with all his wishes, is also envisaged, specifies the government spokesperson, in view of the launch of the first phase of the commissioning of the Deep Water Port of Banana, scheduled for 2025.

The President of the Republic has instructed the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Budget, the Ministers in charge of Industry and Finance, under the supervision of the Prime Minister, to ensure, each insofar as he is concerned, the actions to be taken for the optimal functioning of this public establishment, with the aim of providing it with the financial means which it lacks.
