Kinshasa, May 6th, 2022 (CPA).- The provincial deputy Gérard Mulumba Kongolo wa Kongolo alias Gecoco, was elected, on Friday, vice-governor of the city of Kinshasa, with 46 (forty six) votes out of forty eight (48) voters , following the elections held at the headquarters of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly (APK).
According to the INEC office which organized this election, four (4) candidates applied, namely: Michel Ononda Opango, Evin’s Tulomba Malembe, Rabbi Nkulambe Mola having obtained a vote, and Gérard Mulumba who replaces Néron Mbungu Mbungu in this position. , stripped of his duties on April 10th, 2021 by the APK.
It should be noted that this election was attended by the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Denis Kadima and the provincial police commissioner, the deputy divisional commissioner, Sylvano Kasongo, as well as the president of the APK, Godé Mpoyi who congratulated the elected representatives of Kinshasa for their participation in this election in a climate of peace and serenity. Godé Mpoy also thanked the INEC delegates whose involvement in the organization of the vote gave birth to this serenity.
Speaking to the press shortly after the proclamation of the vote, the elected provincial deputy of the municipality of Kasa Vubu Magloire Kabemba welcomed the choice made by the majority of his peers to the person of Gecoco as vice-governor in view of his actions in favor of the interests of Kinshasa people.
He said that Gecoco is a man of the people, « I ask him to put his energy to the benefit of the development of the city of Kinshasa », he said. Gérard Mulumba Kongolo wa Kongolo is elected provincial deputy of the municipality of Limete, particularly in the Kingabwa district, his electoral stronghold. He is a member of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) and the political platform Sacred Union of the Nation, it is reported.
