Kinshasa, June 11th, 2022 (CPA), – The Special Economic Zones Agency (Azes), through its project manager, Auguy Bolanda, proceeded Thursday in Kinshasa to the signing of contracts for the servicing of physical infrastructure base of the pilot Special Economic Zone of Maluku (Maluku Pilot Zes) with the companies « China Guangdong Provincial » (Cgcd), for civil engineering works, on the one hand, and « Ray Group », for electrical engineering a, on the other hand, indicates a statement from the Ministry of Industry received Friday at the CPA.
The signing of these two contracts, indicates the source, marks the effectiveness and operationalization of the Maluku pilot Zes. The Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku who chairs the signing ceremony, said that the Congolese State has already released the first tranche of USD 20,000,000 (twenty million) to develop the said Zes.
The Minister of Industry, on the occasion, invited the two companies which won the contract, to speed up the work on the ground, because, he added, the President of the Republic, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, will come shortly to lay the first stone marking the start of the works. “Industry must be a factor of peace and stability. It is in this context that the President of the Republic has asked us to also install a Zes in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo », said Julien Paluku, before adding that with the vote in parliament European Union, which puts an end to thermal engines in 2035, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will have to play a very important role in the decarbonation of the world economy, thanks to its strategic minerals which are involved in the manufacture of batteries and electric vehicles.
