The Jazz kiff festival resumes after a two-year hiatus

Kinshasa, June 10th, 2022 (CPA).– The person in charge of the promotion of « Jazz Kiff festival », Orphée Shungu, announced, Friday, the resumption of this musical festival, from June 17th to 18th, 2022, at the French Institute of Kinshasa, after two years of interruption following the health crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, during an exchange with the CPA. According to Ms. Orphée Shungu, after two years of interruption, this 15th edition brings to the Congolese a message of resistance and resilience, before inviting African and European cultural operators to come and discover emerging artists from the DRC. She specified that this festival will be marked by professional meetings between cultural actors, punctuated by a few moments of training on cultural communication and performances in order to enhance this continental event, before emphasizing that this 15th edition provides for a series of concerts with international artists in particular, the Nigerian “Keziah Jones”, the Césaria Evora group from Cape Verde, young Congolese musicians, etc. Moreover, to give the public the color of this festival, the singer Myrador will give a concert this Saturday, June 11th at the IFK, recalling that during its previous editions, the festival has seen several icons of African music play on its podium, namely: Manu Dibango, Oumou Sangaré, Lokua Kanza and the Congolese pianist Ray Lema who offered the festival-goers of the last edition a great concert in tribute to the legend of Congolese rumba, Franco Luambo Makiadi.
