The Minister of EPST hands over 1,500 desk benches to schools in Kasaï-Central

Kananga, June 11th, 2022 (CPA) – The Minister in charge of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, on Thursday handed over 1,500 desk benches to schools in Kasaï-Central, during a ceremony organized at Kele-Kele High School in Katoka commune, Kananga. The Minister of EPST, to this end, called on the heads of establishments to continue this campaign « Not a school without benches », by deducting a sum from the operating costs now paid regularly. « As long as there are no desk benches in schools, the ‘Not a school without benches’ campaign will continue, » he said, before inviting pupils and teachers to make good use of it. For his part, the Director General of the Fund for the Promotion of Education and Vocational Training (FPEF), Jean-François Ekofo, underlined the need for this campaign « Not a school without benches », launched in October of the past year in Kabeya Kamuanga, in the province of Kasaï-Oriental. « It is with the means on board that the desk benches were handed over to Mbuji-Mayi, Lubumbashi, Grand Bandundu, Grand Equateur, Kinshasa, Grand-Kivu and Kongo-Central, and today to Kasaï-Central », said he pointed out. Tony Mwaba, before leaving Kananga, visited the headquarters of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS). Several authorities, in particular the provincial governor, Tharcisse Kabatuisila Mbuyamba, senators and national and provincial deputies and others attended this ceremony of handing over the benches.
