Veracity of Patrice Lumumba’s tooth: Lambert Mende sticks to the testimony of his family

Lumumba-ville, June 27th, 2022 (CPA).- The former Minister in charge of Communication and native of the province of Sankuru, Lambert Mende Omalanga, said he was reassured by the testimony of the family of Patrice Emery Lumumba, that the tooth returned last Monday to the DRC by Belgium, is indeed his. “There are a thousand ways to find out if the tooth belongs to Patrice Emery Lumumba because the children are there; they have the same DNA as their father.

So I’m sure the exams have been done, but we’re not going to expose all that in the public square, « he said during an interview he gave Thursday to the press »There was also a long legal procedure, this file has been dragging on in Brussels for two years, » he added. The Honorary Minister of Communication also stressed that « all these checks had to be made before the family certified that it was really their dad’s tooth. So, we stand by the testimonies of the Lumumba family and we are confident that it is a true testimony”.

Lambert Mende, on the same occasion, pleaded for responsibilities to be established around the assassination of this worthy son of the country. “I would like the responsibilities to be established regarding the death of Patrice Emery Lumumba,” he said. Belgium officially handed over this tooth to the DRC last Monday as the remains of former Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Emery Lumumba, during a ceremony at the Egmont Palace in Brussels.

This tooth, we note, had been seized in 2016, from the daughter of police officer Gérard Soete. This relic will be buried on June 30 in Kinshasa, after a round in the provinces of Sankuru in Lumumba-ville (Onalua), his native village, of Tshopo in Kisangani, his political city, and in Haut-Katanga, in Lubumbashi. and more precisely in the Shilatembo village where he was assassinated on January 17, 1961. It was in 1966 that Lumumba was elevated to the rank of National Hero by President Mobutu. ACP/
