Marthe Odio takes office as first president of the Council of State


Kinshasa, August 15th, 2022 (CPA).- Magistrate Marthe Odio Nonde took office as the first President of the Council of State, following a handover and recovery ceremony with her predecessor, Professor Félix Vunduawe te Pemako , Saturday, at the courthouse. In her word for the occasion, Marthe Odio Nonde expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Supreme Magistrate, for having placed his trust in her, entrusting her with the heavy responsibility of leading this high jurisdiction of the judiciary. . She also thanked her predecessor, the 1st honorary president, Pr emeritus Félix Vunduawe te Pemako, whom she described as « living library, baobab and pioneer » of this jurisdiction.

Fighting the anti-values ​​that eat away at justice

The High Magistrate, Marthe Odio Nonde, invited her colleagues as well as the staff of the Council of State to support the Head of State in his vision of establishing the rule of law, to fight with firmness and determination the anti-values ​​(injustice, corruption, indiscipline) that are eating away at the justice of the DRC. « I urge you to professional conscience, loyalty, unity, dedication and self-sacrifice, to allow the establishment of a true rule of law in this country. The Council of State is a jurisdiction that operates according to the rules provided for in the organic law. We must work within these rules,” she stressed. The first outgoing president, Professor Félix Vunduawe te Pemako, said he was happy to see a woman elevated, for the first time in the country’s history, to the head of a high court. “I encourage this child of the country and wish him good luck,” he concluded.
