President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi returns to Kinshasa after attending the funeral of the late Eduardo Dos Santos in Luanda


Kinshasa, August 29th, 2022 (CPA).- The President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo returned to Kinshasa on Sunday evening, from Luanda (Angola), where he went, the same day, to participate in the funeral of the former President of the Republic of Angola, Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, who died on July 8th in Barcelona, ​​Spain.

Arrived in the early morning in the Angolan capital, the Head of State was welcomed, on his descent from the plane, by the Secretary of State for External Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, before his trip to the place arranged for the funeral national parks, namely the « Palace of Republic ».

Among the foreign Heads of State and Angolan officials who came to pay a last tribute to the former President of the Republic of Angola, the presence of Presidents Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Denis Sassou-Nguesso of Congo/Brazzaville was noted.

Died on July 8th in a clinic in Barcelona (Spain), the former Angolan head of state who led his country for 42 years (1975-2017) is considered by many of his compatriots as a man of peace.

The Angolan government, which has just won the last legislative elections, according to the provisional results, has chosen his date of birth for his desired burial in complete family privacy.

President Felix Antoine Tshisekedi had personally moved from the official residence of the Angolan Ambassador in DRC, in Gombe municipality in Kinshasa, on the announcement of the disappearance of Eduardo dos Santos, it recalls.
