Kinshasa, September 2rd, 2022 (CPA).– The Minister in charge of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, promised to send the Government the grievances of the striking doctors of the National Union of Doctors (SYNAMED), during an exchange that he had on Thursday in Kinshasa with two delegates of this structure.
It is indeed Dr Senga Luamba and Dr Patrick Boloko respectively, Deputy General Secretary in charge of Logistics and Provincial Executive Secretary of SYNAMED who submitted their memorandum to the Minister, reminding him that they have been on strike since Wednesday July 6th, 2022.
“It has been 15 years since I have been following your questions very closely. I know all the doctors’ unions and most of these facilitators. They informed me of your demands and understood that I was aware of your problems”, said the Minister in charge of Communication and Media.
For his part, the Minister also indicated that their demands are of priority concern to the government, in the same way as the Army, the Police and university teachers, as well as those of primary, secondary and technical schools, indicating however that « the place of doctors is in hospitals and not in the street ».
He suggested that the government is trying to find solutions gradually, with the proof of the mechanization, well before this strike, of certain doctors and the regularization of the files of new units.
SYNAMED delegates welcomed the attention paid by the government spokesperson to their concerns.
« We gave him a memorandum after a small spontaneous march and hope to have a favourable follow-up in the near future », said Mr. Senga Luamba. ACP/KAMBAYI/Heri
