Kinshasa, September 21nd, 2022 (CPA) – The Governor of Kinshasa city, Gentiny Ngobila Mbaka, promised to bring the concerns of the doctors to the Head of State, following an exchange, on Wednesday September 21st, with the National Union of Doctors (SYNAMED) and the Free Union of Doctors (SYLIMD) at the multipurpose hall of the parish of Notre-Dame de Fatima in the municipality of Gombe.

In his speech, the first citizen of the city, who was accompanied by the provincial Minister in charge of Health, first invited the doctors to calm down after the attempted march aborted following the intervention of the police who dispersed for not being allowed to demonstrate.

Subsequently, Governor Gentiny Ngobila recalled that their situation is managed at the level of the National Ministry in charge of Health, which has already been instructed to take steps to find an appropriate solution to their claims. To this end, he undertook to personally lead SYNAMED trade union delegation to the Head of State Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo upon his return to the country.

In addition, the first citizen of Kinshasa city announced the mechanization of nearly 2500 doctors’ new units by the end of next October. This would be one of the responses to the expectations of health professionals who plead for the application of agreements relating to their socio-professional benefits such as the bonus, transport, mechanization and others.

At the end of this meeting, they handed over to the urban authority who received the memorandum from SYNAMED and SYLIMD which he promised to present to Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, head of government.
