Kinshasa, September 23rd, 2022 (CPA) – The under-23 Leopards Football of DRC (U-23) and the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia in this age category parted on a white draw (0- 0), on Thursday, in Addis Ababa, capital of the country of the late Negus, Haile Selassie, after the first leg of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) for U-23 football.
The Congolese Fauves, led by their assistant coach, Papy Kimoto Okitankoyi, created some two to three opportunities in the first period that they could not convert into a goal.
The second period, Congolese and Ethiopians wet the jersey well with many opportunities to find the fault, without succeeding.
For the Congolese Fauves, very lively and called upon several times, Christopher Pindi (in the first period) and Elie Mpanzu (in the 2nd half), both somewhat clumsy at the conclusion of DRC offensives, did not able to beat the doorman of the Antelopes of Ethiopia.
For the second leg, the Leopards U-23 will have to be wary of this Ethiopian formation which did not know how to put something in their mouths and which benefits from the advantage of not having conceded a single goal at home. The Ethiopians will certainly try to score a goal in Kinshasa, to scramble the chances of qualification of the Congolese imperatively obliged to win, regardless of the score, in the large gaping, oval and uncovered pot on Boulevard Triomphal. The appointment is thus made for Tuesday, September 27th.
