Kinshasa, September 30th, 2022 (CPA) – The Minister in charge of Infrastructure, Public Works, Alexis Gisaro, led on Wednesday evening to the office of the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, the delegation of GED Africa Ltd Company and the financial partners engaged in the construction of a road of nearly 180 km between Zambia and Haut Katanga on Kasomeno-Kasenga-Chalwe-Muenda axis within the framework of a construction and asphalting contract signed with GED Africa.
In front of the press, the Minister in charge of ITPR indicated that these investors came to give assurances to the Head of Government as to the realization of this project which will have a huge economic impact in DRC.
« This delegation is led by Mr. Szijj Laszlo who is the main investor who will carry equity, almost 30% of the investment. So, during their presence here in Kinshasa, they came to present their courtesies to the Prime Minister and reassure him about the progress of this project as well as the steps to follow.
For his part, CEO of the company that will carry out the work of this modern road, Klaus Findt, specified that the overall cost of this project is nearly USD 730 million.
“This is a project that will be carried out in DRC and ZAMBIA. We have the equity investment. And we are in the process of raising other funding to complete this investment. Nevertheless, we have already started work on the site and we also started the maintenance of Kasomeno and Kasenga road. Yesterday we were in ZAMBIA. We had the opportunity to meet the President of the Republic of ZAMBIA. Today we are here in Kinshasa. We also received hospitality and support from DRC government”, he said.
« For us, it is really very important because we are partners in a 25-year project. There were many, especially technical aspects to discuss. We express our thanks to His Excellency the Minister in charge of Infrastructure and also to His Excellency the Prime Minister for this continuous support and their encouragement », confided Mr. Klaus CEO of GED Africa Ltd. And this, before specifying that the lead investor, Mr. Szijj Laszlo, has already mobilized more than 230 million for the development of this project within the deadline.
