Congolese Tutsi notables receive security assurances from President Tshisekedi

Kinshasa, November 11th, 2022 (ACP).– President Felix Tshisekedi reassured, on Thursday at the City of the African Union, a delegation of Congolese Tutsi on their security in the DRC, beyond the conflict between Kinshasa and Kigali which supports the M23, we learned from a Presidency source.

« As a guarantor of national unity, I reassure you of my firm determination to see all Congolese, whatever their tribes or ethnic groups, live in cohesion, harmony and without any discrimination », affirmed the President of the Republic.

Last Friday, adds the source, the Head of State had also received a delegation of notables from the Congolese Hutu community to whom he had transmitted the same message.

While reminding them of his call for mobilization launched in his message to the Nation of last November 3, with a view to preserving cohesion, unity and peace, the Head of State had exchanged with them on « the ways and means of strengthening national unity, of fighting against ethnic discrimination, physical stigmatization, racial profiling and the separatist tendencies of certain misguided minds”.

« The representatives of these two communities gave their support to the Head of State and reaffirmed their love of the fatherland as well as their commitment to defend national sovereignty, as full Congolese », indicated the source.

Moreover, we are told, the representatives of the Tutsi community condemned those among them who took up arms against their country, before denouncing the confusion made between Congolese Tutsi and the M23 terrorists.

« The Congolese Tutsi are loyal to their country and reject the manipulation of Rwanda which imposes this unjust war on the DRC », they affirmed. ACP/
