Kinshasa, January 2rd, 2023 (CPA).- A single new case of Covid-19 was notified on Saturday December 31st, 2022 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), more precisely in the province of Haut-Katanga, out of 235 samples tested across the country, according to the bulletin on the epidemiological situation of the technical secretariat of the Multisectoral committee for the response to Covid-19 sent to the CPA on Monday.
On the same Saturday, 10 patients were declared cured of Covid-19 in DRC, all in the province of Nord Kivu. No deaths have been recorded.
Since the declaration of the epidemic in DRC on March 10th, 2020, the cumulative number of cases is 95,257, including 95,255 laboratory-confirmed cases and 2 probable cases. In total, there have so far been 84,188 people cured and 1,460 deaths. The Covid-19 test is free for everyone in DRC, except for unvaccinated travellers who will have to pay 30 US dollars.
All 26 provinces of DRC are affected by this epidemic. The number of cases by province is as follows: 50,765 cases in Kinshasa; 10,738 in Nord Kivu; 6,902 in Upper Katanga; 6,428 in Kongo Central; 5,966 at Lualaba; 4,043 in Sud Kivu; 1,704 in Haut-Uele, 1,583 in Tshopo; 1,444 in Ituri; 957 in Kasai Oriental; 903 in Sud Ubangi; 615 to the Equator; 561 in Kasai Central; 493 in Kasai; 354 Maniema; 341 at Lomami; 292 in Nord Ubangi; 230 at the Kwilu; 207 at Mongala; 154 at the Tshuapa; 129 in Mai-Ndombe; 127 in Kwango; 108 in Bas-Uele; 91 in Haut-Lomami; 62 in Tanganyika; 58 cases in Sankuru.
