Eastern Congolese issues: external partners called for restraint

Kinshasa, January 14th, 2023 (CPA).- The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula, called on the external partners of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to exercise restraint in their positions on issues of the East of the country, learned CPA of this ministry.  « The head of Congolese diplomacy recalled, during discussions with the German ambassador to DRC, Oliver Schnakenberg, that DRC’s partners should show restraint and a lot of responsibility in their positions on issues delicate foods from eastern Congo, » the source said.

« Christophe Lutundula reiterated his request to any external partner to communicate to the government any information on the complicity of certain FARDC officers with the negative forces, for the necessary measures, in order to put an end to it », added the same source.  The Deputy Prime Minister, still taking advantage of his meeting with the German diplomat, invited all the partners of DRC « to participate in the resolution of the problem, instead of aggravating an already difficult situation ».

The UN Security Council, as well as several Western countries including France, the USA and Belgium, as well as the European Union, have condemned Rwanda for its support for the M23 terrorist movement and the participation of its troops in the fights, we remember.
