Inongo, January 21st, 2023 (CPA) –The official launch of the third phase of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in the province of Mai-Ndombe, in the north-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), took place on Friday in Inongo, capital of this province.
« A healthy population will remain active for a long time and in view of the challenges that the province must face for its development, it is important that its population is vaccinated in order to put a barrier to this pandemic, » said Ms. Rita Bola, governor of Mai-Ndombe.
The head doctor of the Inongo health zone, Dr Blanchard Bile, said that the expected target is 207,700 people aged 18 and above and that this vaccine protects against severe forms. He recalled that 5 health zones of Mai-Ndombe are affected by Covid-19 with 129 cases recorded so far.
After the launch of this campaign, several people were voluntarily vaccinated.
