Kinshasa, January 24th, 2023 (CPA) – Police stations will be reinforced at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), one of the sites where the 9th Francophonie Games will be held in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2023, the provincial police commissioner of Kinshasa announced Tuesday.
« We came to inquire about security difficulties in this university site which will also host the 9th Games of the Francophonie. We are going to place hot spots to reinforce the security of the site, » said the deputy divisional commissioner Sylvano Kasongo.
He visited, in the company of the rector of UNIKIN, Prof. Jean-Marie Kayembe, the whole of the said site surrounded by several districts where insecurity caused by juvenile delinquency reigns.
« The Congolese National Police will do its job to secure people and their property, to restore public order and total peace in the university site and its surrounding neighbourhoods, » the provincial commissioner reassured.
Rector Jean-Marie Kayembe welcomed this measure by the national police to place the University of Kinshasa among the best secured areas of the Congolese capital, during the Games of La Francophonie.
