Kinshasa, March 6th, 2023, (CPA). – A musical recital by the artist Moli Mokelenge entitled « Kudia Nkunga » is scheduled in acoustic mode on Tuesday in the auditorium of the Wallonia-Brussels Centre in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the artist announced in an interview on Saturday with the CPA.
« I invite my fans to discover me through the show Kudia Nkunga (editor’s note: taste the song). This meal serves as a starter with my voice, a rhythmic dish and accompanied by a percussionist. Both of them will offer the main course: the spicy one with a dancer, » he said.
The main course of my show will be supported by my smooth voice and the strings of my guitar. The whole thing gives a perfect tone to the food that is prepared for gourmets from all musical horizons.
Born in the city of Kinshasa, the talented singer Moli Mokelenge has a degree in marketing from the Institut supérieur de commerce (ISC/Kinshasa). Far from having had any particular training in music, Moli is a self-taught artist who first tried his hand at music in a choir at his church, Notre Dame d’Afrique, in the commune of Lemba.
In 2001, as his love for music grew, he met Jean Goubald Kalala, one of the greatest musicians in the DRC, with whom he worked for several years. In 2010, Moli flew to Libramont-Chevigny in Belgium for a jazz, improvisation and gospel workshop. The artist with an unusual background, rich in knowledge acquired over time, is now making her way in the musical world of Kinshasa thanks to the magic of her voice and her know-how.
However, Moli shares her talent with anyone who approaches her. As proof, the supervision of the super stars, a competition for young talents organised by a local communication company, with a view to enabling the winner to feature with the American star of Senegalese origin, Akon.
Affectionately known as Molimo, this genius artist signed a track in one of Jean Goubald Kalala’s albums. He has yet to release his own album. Until now, Moli has chosen to perform live, accompanied by his five-piece band. This is a question of making himself known to the Kinshasa public and convincing them with his pleasant melodies. This singer, with a voice that charms the ears, is one of the young people of the rising wave who bring in his wake a new energy and the hope of seeing Congolese music go beyond the limits established by routine and the lack of courage to dare to do better. Two singles claim to be by this artist, « Mapapu » and « Ah lelo ya yo ».
