Kinshasa, March 11th, 2023 (CPA) – The United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) has condemned, in a statement received by CPA on Friday, the latest killings perpetrated by ADF terrorists in two localities of Beni.
« The Special Representative of the UN General Secretary in DRC and Head of MONUSCO, Ms. Bintou Keita, condemns in the strongest possible terms the despicable killings of several dozen civilians in Mukondi and Mausa, 20 km from the town of Beni, in the Nord Kivu Province, » the statement said.
« According to initial reports, between Wednesday and Thursday, alleged ADF militiamen attacked civilians with firearms and knives, killing at least 38 people and leaving several others wounded or missing, » the document said.

In this text, the Head of the UN Mission, who calls on the armed groups to immediately stop violence against civilians, « urges the Congolese authorities to investigate and bring to justice the perpetrators of these summary executions« .
At least 36 dead and several wounded, victims of the ADF, were recorded on Wednesday in Mukondi, in the Bashu chiefdom, Beni territory (Ituri).
According to the military spokesman in this region, Captain Anthony Mwalushay, these ADF/MTN terrorists had come to avenge twenty-two of their collaborators captured by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo in this chiefdom.
The massacres of civilians by the ADF hunted down by FARDC elements continue in the territory of Beni. In addition to these terrorists, there are local armed groups who sow death and pillage.
On Wednesday March 8th, an unidentified Mai Mai group raided and attacked a voter registration centre in the Twendeleye primary school, located in the agglomeration of Butuhe, principal city of the Malio group, Beni territory, at around 11pm. CPA/
