Kinshasa, March 11th, 2023 (CPA).- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) pledged on Thursday its willingness to accelerate the implementation of the 145 territories project so that the ambitious investments that the government has decided on can contribute to the development of the Democratic Republic of Congo, CPA learnt on Friday from the Ministry in charge of Planning
« I had the opportunity and the privilege to express all my commitment and that of the UNDP to the Minister of State in charge of Planning Crispin Mbadu in order to accelerate the implementation and ensure that the investments that the government has decided to make through this programme, can be felt by the communities and that we can see visibly from this ambitious investment, the development of DRC, » said Damien Mama, the new UNDP resident representative in DRC.
According to the press release of the Ministry in charge of Planning, the new UNDP Resident Representative in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Damien Mama made this statement on Thursday at the end of the audience granted to him by the Acting Minister in charge of Planning Crispin Mbadu Phanzu.
This courtesy visit allowed the two personalities to review some files that seal the partnership between the government of DRC and the UNDP, the source said.
The Acting Minister in charge of Planning Crispin Mbadu and Damien Mama, on the same occasion, evaluated the Local Development Programme of the 145 Territories of which the UNDP is one of the three (3) Agencies which ensure its implementation.
Aware of the burden that falls to him, the new UNDP Resident Representative in DRC reiterated his promise to accelerate the implementation of this programme initiated by the Head of State Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
The Acting Minister in charge of Planning, during a brief ceremony organised in the premises of the said ministry, in the presence of the UNDP delegation, proceeded to the handing over of an important set of desk tops and laptops to the heads of the structures dedicated to the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the mission letters.
« These computer tools, donated by the Swedish Embassy through UNDP, will enable the Government’s technical services to ensure the follow-up of mission letters for a good performance between the Prime Minister and the members of the Government, » said the resident representative.
As a reminder, a few days after taking office, this senior United Nations official in DRC came to present his greetings to the Government planner, accompanied by his deputy Rokia Diang. CPA/
