Kisangani, march 14th, 2023 (CPA).- Women living with disabilities will be at the centre of the activities of the Non-Profit Association « initiative plus » of Marie Olive Lembe Kabila, (IPOLK), said the provincial coordinator, Hilaire Ilenda Kitata, during a conference-debate, organised on Monday in Kisangani, DRC, as part of the commemorative activities of the women’s month.
« This year, the provincial coordination of ipolk has the privilege to highlight women living with disabilities in its activities. It will work for her socio-economic inclusion, » said the provincial coordinator, Mr. Hilaire Ilenda Kitata.
« Given that our compatriot women may have a problem with their leg or arm, thus reducing their mobility, but they have all the intellectual capacities required to have the same job as those living without disabilities, » he added.
The provincial coordinator of ipolk recognised the merit of these women and their contribution to society: « Despite their disability, these women do not cross their arms. They work to be valued in society, even if they suffer discrimination because of their physical condition. They are dynamic, » he said, stressing that his organisation is campaigning to eliminate discrimination in society.
