Kinshasa, March 17th, 2023 (CPA) Issues relating to the strengthening of the partnership between the University of Louvain-la-Neuve of Belgium, the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) and the Catholic University of Congo (UCC) were at the centre of the audience that President Felix Tshisekedi granted, Thursday, to the rectors of these three Alma mater.
The delegation was led to the Head of State by Jo Indekeu, Belgian ambassador to the DRC.
Professor Vincent Blondel, rector of the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, told the press at the end of the audience that they expressed to the Head of State the will to strengthen the partnership of their universities as well as the importance of higher education for the development of a country.
He said the Head of State reassured them of his support for this rapprochement, adding that President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi is very attentive to the realities facing universities and the importance of higher education, which is part of his vision.
The rector of the University of Kinshasa, Prof. Kayembe Ntumba Jean-Marie, said they were struck by the attention and curiosity of the Head of State on the direction of research in universities to solve the many challenges to be faced. The Head of State urged them not to forget, in their partnership, the universities and students in the interior of the country.
Prof. Léonard Santedi Kinkupu, rector of the Catholic University of Congo (UCC), was part of the delegation.
