Kinshasa, March 16th, 2023 (CPA). – The members of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) meeting in Congress in Kigali, Rwanda, rejected on Wednesday, the proposal to set up a normalisation committee at the Congolese Federation of Association Football (FECOFA), as desired and proposed by the general secretary of CAF, Veron Mosengo, CPA learned from the supreme body of Congolese football, in Kinshasa.
The Congolese Veron Mosengo, who knows and masters well the management of his compatriots, has placed two envoys of FIFA-CAF at FECOFA, who work full time with the members of the executive committee in place. They are in charge of finance and legal matters respectively.
« Veron Mosengo had proposed to CAF to put in place a normalisation committee that would manage FECOFA until credible and transparent elections are organised. The case related to the alleged embezzlement of 1.7 million US dollars from FIFA allocated to FECOFA for the development of Congolese football would be the basis of this decision of Veron Mosengo, » the source said.
The source also says: « The issue was submitted to the FIFA member confederations and associations at the Congress in Kigali, which, after a heated debate, disagreed with the proposal. The FIFA members found this way of doing things to be an unparalleled interference« .
As a reminder, the current executive committee led by Donatien Tshimanga Mwamba has expressed its willingness during its extraordinary working session last Monday focused on the analysis of the draft timetable to finally go to the elections, which will extend to the sub-delegated entities. The process at this stage is therefore irreversible. It is done in harmony with FIFA and CAF. Donatien Tshimanga and his collaborators whose statutes have already been published in the official gazette and certified by the Ministry in charge of Justice. The elections have been set for July 15th. CPA/
